DIY Body Butter Made With Cacao Butter
It’s getting cold out and if you’re like me, your skin is dreading it! I tend to get very dry skin in the winter, it’s not fun. and I needed a solution from those toxic store products and last year I came up with a way to keep my precious cocoa brown skin, silky smooth. Even when it’s so cold outside. After researching natural ingredients (always natural) I started to experiment with different ingredients and after trial and error, Ureka! I developed a recipe that has helped me and I know could help others.
What’s important to have in your body butter?
To make a successful body butter it’s best to have ingredients with key components. The most important components are to use a cream based butter (cocoa, cacao, or shea are the best), use natural oils that are high in Vitamin E, and not to add ingredients that might be counterproductive, something that may dry out the ingredients meant to replenish and moisture size the skin.
The DIY body butter I have created can be used on your face, hair, feet, and body. It’s a wonderous beauty product.
– Wooden spoon
– Ceramic bowl
– Measuring cups
– Glass jar or BPA free plastic container
– Spatula or wooden spoon
– 1 Cup of Cacao Butter Raw and Unrefined
– 1/4 cup of Jojoba Oil
– 1/4 cup of Castor Oil
– 1/4 cup of Frankincense oil
– Optional. Add a few drops of Rose or Lavender oil.
Measure out 1 cup of cacao butter ( cacao is better to use because it isn’t as processed as cocoa is. It retains more of its rich antioxidants that are helpful to our bodies.)
Soften the cacao butter with any heating method you prefer. I use two pots, 1 large and 1 small to make a double boiler and heat the butter for a short time.
Mix melted cacao butter with the jojoba oil, frankincense oil, and castor oil.
Mix well together so all is blended perfectly into one lovely batch.
Refrigerate for a couple of hours to harden. Then let it sit out for a little bit.
Add a few drops of your favorite scent and Whisk it up, baby! Use the hand method or the beater. I prefer the hand method with a wooden spoon.
Put contents into a jar and you are ready to smooth it all over.
Some people may find it greasy but if you take a little time and pressure to massage it into your skin, it’s magickal and therapeutic for you.
Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think. This diy body butter is quick and easy to make. Enjoy and let’s take great care of ourselves.
